From yoga, meditation and wellness to wine, food and foraging, The Farmstead at Lydhurst offers a stunning setting for the ultimate countryside retreat.
With its own sweeping drive, The Farmstead is a charming and eclectic mix of listed barn and stable conversions, as well as a listed medieval farmhouse and two bespoke shepherds’ huts.
The perfect countryside setting
Sleeping up to 24 across five buildings, with stylish and cosy communal living spaces, The Farmstead also offers a custom treatment hut and a community barn for workshops and group dining. Outside there is a firepit and camp style seating next to our ancient woodland, a pretty path leading to a waterfall bridge and plenty of private walks. There is parking for multiple vehicles and an electric vehicle charge point.
Accomodation
The Farmstead sleeps 12-24 across five buildings nestled together. Each has a private kitchen, dining and living space.
Accommodation includes:
- The Farmhouse (sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms)
- The Barn (sleeps 8-10 in 4 bedrooms)
- The Stable (sleeps 2-3 in studio accommodation)
- The Double Brace Shepherd Huts (sleeps 2-3O)
- The Shepherds Hut (sleeps 2)
We have other accommodation on the estate that may also be booked for retreat guests or practitioners. Please ask us about availability.
Dining
The Farmstead’s beautiful dining barn seats up to 30. With its own private commercial kitchen, your chef can cook up a feast on site to be served fresh to your table. We have some wonderful chef partners that come highly recommended.
We can provide linens, crockery, table-setting, seasonal estate grown flowers and flower arrangements, and general barn styling if you want a special look or are short on time, or you can bring your own essentials and style yourself.
Wellness
Our smaller shepherds hut, with toilet and shower, can easily be converted to a cosy, private treatment hut with a massage table or can be used as additional guest, practitioner, or chef accommodation.
Our movement spaces include the main barn, with its reclaimed flagstone floor and underfloor heating, and the community barn with floor to ceiling windows overlooking green fields (although for practicality we recommend this space be used for dining or workshops). When the weather is warm, bring your retreat guests outside to enjoy the glorious lawns, tranquil gardens and beautiful views of the South Downs.
Creative
An inspiring place for artists, content creators, photographers and writers; with access to the whole estate, you can take easels, cameras and your imagination to explore the woodland, lakes, fields and beautiful views of the South Downs.
The community barn offers space to come together to create and share ideas. Food stylists can use the commercial kitchen and foraged natural props from the estate and woodland to assemble dishes to share and post.
Wine
Situated in the centre of Sussex wine country, Lydhurst is the perfect base for exploring some of the best vineyards in the country.
We offer a minibus service for vineyard tours and our community barn is perfect for coming together at the end of the day for freshly prepared meal and a glass of wine. We can arrange for private tastings and specialist talks with vintners and vineyard workers and local wine experts.
